HAPPY FREDDY (28), mkazi wa Mikocheni, anashikiliwa na Polisi kwa kosa la kusababisha kwa makusudi kifo cha mtoto wa kiume wa siku moja kwa kumdumbukiza chooni. Kamanda mkoa-polisi wa Kinondoni Bw. Charles Kenyela ametaarifu kuwa, tukio hilo lilitokea juzi majira ya saa 8 mchana huko maeneo ya Mikocheni 'A'.

Kenyela amesema kuwa, taarifa hiyo iliifikia polisi baada ya wifi wa mtuhumiwa aitwae Shadya Ally (18) kupeleka taarifa kituo cha polisi Osterbay. Amesema mtuhumiwa akiwa nyumbani kwake Mikocheni alianza kusikia uchungu wa kuashiria kutaka kujifungua na alimuomba wifi yake huyo amsindikize hospitali .

Kamanda akiendelea kutoa taarifa hiyo alisema kuwa, walianza safari ya kumpeleka hospitali lakini wakiwa njiani ghafla mtuhumiwa ambae ni ‘Happy’ alimwambia wifi yake huyo kuwa anajisikia haja na alishuka eneo hilo kwenda chooni kujisaidia na Shadya alimsubiri nje.

Amesema ghafla Shadya akiwa nje alisikia sauti ya mtoto ikilia kutoka chooni humo na aliamua kuingia na kukuta kichanga cha jinsia ya kiume kikiwa kimeegeshwa pembezoni mwa tundu la choo na kutoelewa ilikuwaje.

Kenyela alisema” wifi mtu aliamua kuwasha tochi ya simu yake ya mkononi na alimwona vizuri mtoto huyo na ghafla mtuhumiwa alikisukumiza kichanga hicho ndani ya tundu la choo kwa mguu wake na kwa madai kuwa alikuwa ameharibika. Hivyo kufuatia tukio hilo Shadya aliomba msaada kwa majirani na kutoa taarifa kituo cha polisi kuomba kuopolewa kwa kichanga hicho na walifanikiwa kuokoa mwili huo kwa kushirikiana na polisi ukiwa tayari mfu.

BURUNDI CHILDREN: UNCERTAIN FUTURE, P'SE HELP!

Burundi is home to 3,733,000 children who live in abject poverty with chronic malnutrion and contagious diseases. They solely depend on foreign aid to survive. 12% of all childern in Burundi DIE at birth, with 20% DIE before their 5th birthdate. Burundi is one of the highest  child mortality rate in the world mainly due to Malaria, Diarrhoea, and pneumonia. Many children who are born alive are already infected with HIV/AIDS. And those who go on to live are immidiately left opharned to AIDS.

2. Many types of human rights violations that children experience in pre-trial detention, in the investigation and prosecution of cases, and while in prison.

Children are sometimes tortured to extract confessions, and most have no access to legal advice or representation. Children are locked up alongside adults in overcrowded and miserable conditions for months or even years as they await trial.

There is no juvenile justice system in Burundi. Under current laws, the age of criminal responsibility is 13. Minors between 13 and 18 years old found guilty of a crime benefit only from the reductions in sentences normally given to adults convicted of the same crime. There are currently no alternatives to incarceration for children and no services to help children once they are released from detention.

"The first time, I was in the shower, which was very small. An adult came in. He just forced himself on me. He was much bigger than me, so I couldn't do anything and I was in pain. I was too afraid and too ashamed to tell anyone, and he kept coming back to me. I never told anyone in the prison administration. I still have pain in my kidneys and in my stomach. "Sleeping is very hard, as there are about 27 of us in the one room. Some of us have to sit up all night. There are no separate showers and toilets for us, the children. Human Rights Watch called on the government of Burundi and donors working in the justice sector, such as DFID and the European Commission, to support a juvenile justice system based on international standards of the rights of the child. The system must prioritize rehabilitation, social reintegration and alternatives to incarceration.

The pop star Jamelia with Tatiana, an 11-year-old Russian who sold her waist-length hair for just £10  roughly a month’s wages.

"Indeed, until I worked on this BBC investigation, I’m ashamed to admit I’d never once stopped to consider where the human hair I had pinned or sewn into my head had come from. Then I heard from a friend, earlier this year, that the hair used in the extensions are, mostly, taken from children, women or corpses. I was horrified. How did I know I wasn’t wearing a dead person’s hair? And if I was, had they agreed to that before they passed away, or had they simply had it shaved off in a mortuary without their family’s knowledge?"
